Tutti ricorderete la vicenda dei cavalli trottatori sequestrati a Trequanda a maggio dello scorso anno, quando fu scongiurato in extremis il rischio che morissero di fame e sete a causa del dissesto finanziario dell’allevatore. Arrivarono al nostro centro, in un colpo solo, ben 21 cavalli con comprensibili enormi difficoltà a gestirli: anzitutto sotto il profilo economico, visto che, dopo un primo piccolissimo contributo dell’ANACT e della Procura di Siena, abbiamo dovuto far fronte da soli alle spese di alimentazione e cura di questi animali. E poi sotto il profilo comportamentale: 12 di questi erano puledri di circa un anno, terrorizzati dalla presenza umana, forse perché nessuno si era mai preso la briga di avvicinarli in modo naturale e forse per le operazioni di carico sui mezzi di trasporto con metodi “poco simpatici”, al momento del sequestro.

Grazie a IHP tutti hanno recuperato un’ottima forma fisica e sono stati resi docili e fiduciosi, con un paziente e costante lavoro del nostro staff. Pian piano abbiamo trovato per loro nuove famiglie, splendide persone che hanno deciso di prendersene cura per il futuro adottandoli.

E la settimana scorsa sono stati affidati gli ultimi quattro puledri: Olimpique, Principe, Spirit e Luna sono stati accompagnati nella splendida proprietà di Jamal Amin dove già vivono in libertà altri sei cavalli. Jamal è la testimonianza di come si possano amare e avere cavalli, senza per forza pensare di montarli: saranno una compagnia per lui e per i turisti che potranno osservare come vivono i cavalli in libertà, avvicinarli e interagire con loro. Inoltre Jamal ha messo a disposizione la sua struttura per i futuri corsi di approccio naturale che saranno organizzati da IHP.

You will all remember the tale of the Standardbred horses sequestrated in Trequanda last May, saved from starving to death after their owner suffered a financial setback.

21 horses arrived at our center, causing huge and easily understandable management problems. First of all, there was the financial side, since, after a small contribution from the ANACT and the Siena Attorney, we had to cover all the costs to feed and care for these animals. Then there was the behavioral side: 12 of these horses were short yearlings terrified by human presence, perhaps because no one had ever bothered to approach them in a natural way; perhaps because of the “not very nice” methods used to load them on the vans during the sequestration.

Thanks to IHP and our staff’s patient, constant work, all of these horses have been put back in shape and have become easy to handle and trustful. Then, little by little, we found new families for them, wonderful people who decided to take care of their future by adopting them.

Last week the last four yearlings have been adopted: Olimpique, Principe, Spirit and Luna have been taken to Jamal Amin’s beautiful estate, which already is the home of six other horses living in freedom. Jamal is the proof of how it’s possible to love and own horses without having to ride them: they will be companion animals for him and the tourists that will so be able to observe how horses live in freedom, approach them and interact with them. Moreover, Jamal has put his estate at our disposal for future natural horsemanship courses organized by IHP.
